This Class meets and exceeds Ohio concealed
handgun class requirements by teaching the students the knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and using a pistol safely. Students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, and pistol marksmanship.
Counter Ambush Concepts from Valkyrie Defense Group is a class stressing the fundamentals of Concealed Handgun Carry. The VDG curriculum is designed to educate students about firearms best for concealed carry, how to carry them safely and how to use them proficiently. Being proficient in the context of a dynamic critical incident takes training and focus. Our four to six hour I.C.E. based course introduces new shooters to some of the core basics of the Combat Focus® Shooting program. We will give you the tools you need regarding handgun ownership. We share with our students critical information geared towards the new handgun owner. Our instructors have the knowledge and background to properly fill the needs of any shooter wanting to take their abilities past the basic CCW class.
Valkyrie Defense Group instructors will cover situational awareness, threat avoidance and de-escalation. Our instructors want you to see concealed carry as a system. They discuss gun selection, ammunition, holster selection. Counter Ambush Concepts will teach drawing from a holster and efficient reloading. We will show you and practice multiple shooting drills designed to help you achieve speed and precision. Our instructors will train you methods to overcome distractions in the public environment. We discuss alternate force options. CAC gives you some insight for interacting with law enforcement responding to your dynamic critical incident.
There are no prerequisites to taking this course but we recommend students have taken their Ohio concealed handgun course. Please see our below for list of recommended gear.
Students will need to bring:
A minimum of 2 magazines
Magazine carrier (optional, but recommended)
250 rounds of ammunition
Food or snacks
Weather appropriate clothing
Note taking material (optional)
